As a mom of four who’s called the Oklahoma City area home for over 10 years, I’m here to spill the beans on our tried-and-true favorites. 

From playful parks to hands-on museums, get ready to discover the best things to do in Oklahoma City with toddlers…that you will enjoy as well!

Myriad Gardens

The Myriad Gardens is one of the most beloved locations in the city. Take a stroll around the gardens to see some of the most beautiful plants and flowers in Oklahoma.

Your little one will especially love the unique play area for kids known as the Children’s Garden. This playground is the epitome of creative play! From unique climbing structures to forts and slides, your toddler will stay busy with all there is to explore.

In the summer months, pack your swimsuits for fun in the splash park, which is located directly across from the entrance of the Children’s Garden.

Right next to the splash park you will find Mo’s Carousel, a must-do for toddlers in Oklahoma City! This picture-perfect carousel is sure to make the best memories with your little one.

Admission to the Myriad Gardens and Children’s Garden is free, and a ride on Mo’s Carousel is just $3 per person.

Wheeler District

Wheeler District is one of the most fun districts in the city! Play yard games, relax in a hammock, and take your little one on their first ferris wheel ride. This walkable community also boasts great local shopping and a play ground.

Since moms need something to look forward to as well, grab a cup of coffee at Clarity Coffee and finish off with some of the best tacos in the city at Taco Nation.

Oklahoma City Zoo

The Oklahoma City Zoo recently underwent some big renovations and is now better than ever! You could easily spend most of the day strolling through the animal exhibits.

The Children’s area is our family’s personal favorite. Here, your little one can pet sheep and goats, feed lorikeets, and play in the running stream and splash pad. (I recommend wearing water shoes and clothes that dry quickly!)

One of the best attractions is the elephant exhibit. It is a beautiful area are you can watch the elephants from multiple vantage points.

Another unique experience is the animal hospital, where you can talk to animal experts and even watch animal examinations and surgeries as they are happening.

The zoo is open seven days a week and admission for children two and under is free.

Metro Gymnastics

Our kids always loved open gym time as toddlers! Located on Broadway Ext., Metro Gymnastics offers toddler open gym time from 9:30-11:30 on Thursdays and Fridays.

This gym time is reserved for ages 4 and under only which is perfect for allowing your toddler to experiment with gymnastics, while keeping it safe and age-appropriate.

As a bonus, your child will definitely be ready for a nap after this! The cost for toddler open gym is just $10 per child.

Science Museum Oklahoma

Your toddler will love the hands-on exhibits at Science Museum Oklahoma, one of the largest science museums in the country!

This OKC attraction features rotating exhibits, play areas, the Kirkpatrick Planetarium and the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame. You can even experience daily educational shows known as “Science Live”.

In addition, if your little one loves trains and airplanes, they will love the life-size train and aviation wing.

Pack a lunch or eat at the cafe inside the museum. Science Museum Oklahoma is open daily and admission for children two and under is free.

Indoor Play Places

Oklahoma City boasts several great indoor play areas that are perfect for rainy (or super hot) days. These are the top three favorites of our own kids:

  1. Breakaway Indoor Playground– This indoor playground is so large that even grownups can use it with their little ones! It is always very clean and there is free wifi and coffee provided. What could be better?
  2. Unpluggits– If your toddler loves getting messy with art, look no further! Unpluggits features a large room with a play structure on one side, while the other size is dedicated to arts and crafts.
  3. Sky Zone– This trampoline park has a dedicated “toddler zone” just for toddlers and their parents!

Oklahoma Railway Museum

This is the perfect spot for you if your little one is obsessed with trains! The Oklahoma Railway Museum offers guests educational experiences by teaching about Oklahoma railroads and offering train rides.

Their Polar Express experience is one of the most beloved Christmas traditions in Oklahoma City. These tickets sell out quickly, so you will want to book in advance.

Bricktown

Bricktown is an entertainment district in downtown OKC with so much to do for families with toddlers!

Your family will love taking in a baseball game at Bricktown Ballpark. The lawn behind the outfield is the perfect place for toddlers to run around while also watching the game. There is also a playground right around the corner from the first base line seating area.

Other great entertainment options in Bricktown include mini-golf, an arcade and gemstone mining. In addition, check out the canal ride. Our family has really enjoyed this 40 minute water taxi ride that weaves through Bricktown. The ride is especially beautiful at sunset.

Sam Noble Museum of Natural History

Just south of Oklahoma City you’ll find the popular Sam Noble Museum. This museum of natural history features interactive exhibits including our favorite, The Hall of Ancient Life.

There you will be eye to eye with dinosaur skeletons including the Pentaceratops, Apatosaurus and Saurophaganax.

In the back of the museum you will find a small play area where little ones can play in sand and dig up fossils of their own.
