What is Carlton Landing and What Makes Carlton Landing so Special?

Carlton Landing is this little lakeside community on Lake Eufaula that feels like stepping straight into a 1990’s summer.

Think kids riding scooters down quiet streets, chasing fireflies at dusk, and running barefoot across big grassy greens while parents hang out on wide front porches with a cold drink.

The whole town is designed so most homes face community lawns instead of roads, which makes it feel super safe and neighborly.

It’s got this laid-back, almost coastal vibe—like a slice of 30A without ever leaving Oklahoma—and the slow pace of life here is exactly why we keep coming back.

When to Visit

To take advantage of all Carlton Landing has to offer, I recommend visiting in the summer months.

There simply isn’t as much to do in the cooler parts of the year. Weekends and holidays offer even more fun with exciting community events.

As you consider when to visit, keep in mind that some activities and restaurants are closed for a couple days early in the week.

Things to Do

Carlton Landing is the perfect mix of relaxation and fun, with most of the activities centered around the lake and community pools.

Since the town is small and walkable, you can easily get to everything—whether you’re heading out for a paddle on the water, grabbing ice cream, or just strolling to your next adventure.

Read on for some of our favorite activities in Carlton Landing.

Go Swimming

Guests at Carlton Landing have access to two community pools: the Boulevard Pool and the Tower Court Pool.

Your vacation rental host will share the gate code with you at check-in, so you can enjoy them during your stay.

Both pools have restrooms for convenience, but Tower Court goes a step further with a ping pong table, picnic table, and grills—perfect for an afternoon hangout after a swim.

Play Ping Pong and Bocce Ball

There are several outdoor ping pong tables and even a bocce ball court scattered around Carlton Landing, and we love stopping for a quick game on our way to the pool or lake.

It’s such a fun way to break up the day, and the kids are always up for a little friendly competition.

Tip: There are usually paddles and balls available at the tables, but you could bring your own just in case.

Explore the Parks

One of our favorite things to do in Carlton Landing is to start the morning with a cup of coffee in hand, the kids on their scooters, and just wander.

We slowly make our way from one little park to the next (there are several scattered throughout the community), letting the day unfold without a plan.

Since the whole town is so easy to walk, we never end up too far from our home base—just far enough to feel like we’ve explored a bit before heading back to relax.

Stroll Through the Community Garden

We always make a point to stop by the community garden on our morning walks.

It’s full of beautiful raised beds overflowing with vegetables, fruits, and flowers, and it feels like such a peaceful little spot to wander through.

The kids especially love visiting the chicken coop in the center of the garden—it’s always a highlight of our walk!

Outfitted with idyllic white rocking chairs, the Overlook is an iconic spot for a family photo in Carlton Landing.

Activities on Lake Eufaula

Of course, no trip to Carlton Landing is complete without spending time on Lake Eufaula.

From swimming and paddleboarding to boat rentals and fishing, the lake is the heart of the community and where most of the fun happens.

Inflatable Aqua Park

Lake Days has added an awesome inflatable aqua park that’s quickly become a family favorite!

It’s a newer addition to Carlton Landing and the perfect way to burn off some energy on the water.

Kids ages 5 and up can join in, making it a hit for families with older kiddos looking for a little extra adventure.

Swim Beach

Swim Beach is the perfect spot to spend a lazy afternoon in Carlton Landing, with its sandy shoreline and calm swimming area that’s great for families.

There’s not much shade, so you might want to pack a beach umbrella for those sunny Oklahoma days.

Our kids love digging and building with their sand toys while watching schools of tiny minnows dart around near the shore—it’s simple, easy fun that keeps everyone happy.

Carlton Landing Restaurants

While dining options are a bit limited, the restaurants in Carlton Landing are delicious! You’ll want to visit each restaurant’s website for seasonal hours.

Mama Tig’s

Mama Tig’s is your spot for delicious, wood-fired pizza! The restaurant is beautiful with its floor to ceiling windows, and the desserts are just as delicious as the pizza.

The Meeting House

The Meeting House is the heart of Carlton Landing—a spot where everyone seems to gather, whether it’s for a casual meal, a refreshing drink, or just to relax with friends and family.

There’s plenty of indoor and outdoor seating (the patio strung with twinkle lights is our favorite), and in the summer, you can often catch live music that makes the whole place feel extra festive and vacation-ready.

Carlton Landing Rentals

We have stayed in a variety of Carlton Landing vacation rentals and have had a great experience each time!

On our last trip, we stayed at the Redbud Refuge, and it was such a perfect fit for our family.

Not only is it beautifully decorated, but it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

The kitchen was fully stocked, everything was spotless, and the loft with four extra beds was absolutely adorable—our kids loved it, and it worked perfectly for our family of six.

Getting Around

The entire town is walkable, however it can be fun to have quicker ways to get around town.

Bring bikes, scooters or hoverboards, or rent golf carts for ultimate convenience.
