We have loved our time spent as a family on 30A–it’s easily one of our favorite beach destinations!
If you’re here, you’re likely planning a trip to this beautiful stretch of the Emerald Coast, and let me tell you–you’re in for a treat!
But before you kick back with your toes in the sand, you’ll need to make sure you have everything you need for a stress-free trip! That’s where this 30A packing list comes in handy.
Whether you’re heading to Seaside, Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, or any of the other 30A communities, this guide will help you pack everything you need–including a printable checklist at the end!

Before You Start Packing
One important tip before you start packing: Check what’s included in your vacation rental! Many of the best family-friendly rentals in 30A come stocked with essentials, so you may not need to bring as much as you think.
When we stayed at Prominence, our rental included a golf cart, beach toys, beach chairs, boogie boards, and a starter pack of paper goods and hygiene items. This saved us a ton of space in our luggage!
Always check your rental listing or reach out to the host so you don’t pack unnecessary items.
Essentials for Any 30A Trip
- Sunscreen (reef-safe)
- Sunglasses & hat
- Swimsuits & cover-ups
- Casual beachwear (shorts, tank tops, sundresses)
- Flip-flops & water shoes
- Reusable water bottles
- Beach towels
- A good beach bag big enough for the whole family
- Toiletries & medications
- Snacks
Beach Gear You’ll Want to Bring
If your rental doesn’t already provide these, consider packing these family beach essentials:
- Beach chairs & umbrella
- Beach toys for kids
- Boogie boards or paddleboards
- Cooler for drinks and snacks
- Waterproof phone case
- Mesh bag for wet swimsuits & sandy toys
Clothing and Shoes
The 30A style is laid-back and casual, so you don’t need to overpack. A few outfit essentials include:
- Swimsuits (2-3 per person so you always have a dry one)
- Casual outfits for daytime
- Outfits for dinners out (lightweight dresses, polos and slacks, etc.)
- Comfortable shoes for shopping or hiking
- Sweater or light jacket for breezy evenings
- Rain jacket or poncho for occasional showers
- Hats & sunglasses
Toiletries and Personal Care Items
Most vacation rentals provide starter supplies (like soap and shampoo), but here’s what you may want to bring:
- Toothbrush & toothpaste
- Shampoo, conditioner & body wash
- Hair styling products
- After-sun lotion (Aloe Vera is great if you get sunburned!)
- Deodorant & skincare products
- Hairbrush & hair ties
- Bug spray

- Nighttime essentials (nightlight, sound machine, lovey, etc.)
- Swim diapers
- Sun hat & rash guard

- Favorite snacks and sippy cups
- Shell bag for collecting treasures
- Small toys and books for waiting at restaurants or traveling
- Portable blackout curtain if needed for naps

- Cash & Credit cards (for small shops & ice cream stands)
- Travel documents (if flying)

Weather in 30A and Seasonal Packing Tips
The weather in 30A varies throughout the year, so pack accordingly! I recommend checking the forecast a couple days before you leave to ensure you are prepared for the weather.
- Spring (March-May): Warm days, cooler evenings. The ocean may still be pretty cool. Pack light layers, a sweater, and a rain jacket for occasional showers.
- Summer (June-August): Hot and humid. Stick to breathable clothing, rash guards, a sun hat and lots of sunscreen.
- Fall (September-November): Warm but less humid. Bring a light jacket for evenings and an umbrella for potential rain showers.
- Winter (December-February): Mild but can definitely get chilly. Pack jeans, sweaters, and a warm jacket for cooler days and nights.
What Not to Pack
- Too many dressy outfits – Most 30A restaurants are casual.
- Heavy beach gear – Rentals often provide chairs, umbrellas and toys.
- Items that are better rented – Bikes, beach chairs, and paddleboards can take up a lot of room. Opt to rent these items to save space. (We had a great experience renting bikes from Frankie’s!)
