How to Use
These coloring pages are super simple to use and take up very little space when traveling! Here are a few tips to get the most out of them:
- Print a pack for each child. Giving each kid their own set avoids arguments over who gets what page. I like to staple them together or slide them into a folder to keep things organized.
- Use a clipboard. This gives kids a solid surface to color on, whether they’re in the backseat or on a plane tray table. Bonus: It doubles as a hard surface for other travel activities too! We love this budget-friendly clipboard.
- Pack a pencil pouch. Toss in crayons or colored pencils so they’re easy to grab when boredom strikes. A zippered pouch for each kid keeps everything contained and organized.
- Pair with other screen-free activities. In addition to these coloring pages, don’t forget other screen-free ideas for road trips for kids. Audiobooks (such as the Yoto player), road trips games or a fun playlist will keep your kids engaged for longer.
- Spread out your activities. Instead of giving your child access to all the entertainment options at once, surprise them with something new every 30 minutes or so during travel days. This keeps them engaged for longer periods of time and eliminates overwhelm from too many options.
Why Coloring Pages are Great for Travel
Coloring is one of my go-to travel activities for kids because it’s easy, mess free and engaging. It sparks creativity, helps pass the time and can even be a calming activity when travel gets a little chaotic.
Plus, it’s a budget-friendly way to keep kids entertained–just print and go!
